I have always believed that circus changed my life in Ethiopia. It is because of circus that I have met such amazing people in my life and they have shared their experience with me. I have been taught so much in my journey so far, so I really love to give somethig back when I can.
I love working with children an in disadvantaged communities to make a difference for those who haven’t had an opportunity to grow. I have worked with kids in Ethiopia, Indiginous Australian kids, kids in Melbourne, young East African women, new young arrivals to Australia and refugees.
When I teach circus and movement workshops with them I hear their amazing stories, and I often feel like I learn more about them than they learn from me! The more I teach the more I can see these kids potential and I see who they can be if they are given a chance to express themselves and be proud of their achievements. By the end of my workshops I see the difference that circus can make as a way to engage, trust, play, build confidence, find self-expression, fitness and self-esteem. Here are some pics from the projects that I have done. Enjoy
